Here is our way of the logo design process : 

1. Discover, Understand and Evaluate the Brand 

This stage wherein one learns about the client's business, philosophy, industry trend, rivals, and target audience. A lot of different questions should be asked to the clients like:

  • What are your business goals
  • Who is the target audience
  • How do you want your audience to see your brand 
  • What beliefs and values are important to you 

These questions would help in creating a foundation for your creative exploration. Every bit of information you can get about the brand and the individuals who work there will help your design succeed in the long term. One should get a well-informed opinion on the brand at the end of this phase. 

2. Research about the Industry and its Competitors 

The next step in the logo design process is the research phase wherein one would check what kind of logos are trending in the industry and what kind of logos are used by competitors. These insights would help during the ideation phase. After this, you should see how they can differentiate themselves from their competitors. This step would not only help in analyzing the industry but would also give an idea of what mistakes to avoid.

3. Brainstorming Session - Develop Ideas and Decide on Art Direction

It refers to thinking about all the different possibilities that would lead to a creative logo. It generally where you should try understanding what kind of persona or style would suit the brand. Try understanding what kind of typography, colors, illustrations could be used by the brand according to its personality. By focusing on the above things we can make a decision on which direction to proceed with. 

4. Sketch Concepts Based on Strategy 

The purpose of sketching is to establish a link between an idea and the creation of a form. Sketching is inexpensive, simple, and quick, but most importantly, it is a powerful brainstorming tool. Draw a variety of logo concepts to observe how they appear outside of your head. Even if you're almost confident you've found a concept you like, jot down some alternatives. It's also crucial to consider whether a symbol or a memorable typographic treatment of the brand name is required. One might surprise themselves with something they like, and at the very least, they will have some options in case the client doesn't like the direction your initial design is heading. Here, it is important to take short breaks and let ideas grow. This stage would help you in getting a clear picture of what kind of logo you are going to execute.

5. Digitalizing the Design 

Now, this step is very crucial, it is all about translating and executing the sketches into digital form. This part can take longer than expected before one could execute an aesthetically pleasing piece. It is suggested to test different fonts, colors, alignments before actually finalizing any piece. This step is basically about experimenting with a variety of different approaches to execute your logo sketches to find the greatest aesthetics. The idea is to use a persuasive, eye-catching logo display to communicate one’s brand's vision.

6. Present and Revise your Designs 

Once you are ready with your logo, present your three best logos in the form of a presentation to the client. You should inform your client that we can truly accept and attach significance to a brand only when it has been officially adopted. Before final approval, you may wish to alter a few things, merge parts from other concepts, and polish the designs.

7. Delivery - Prepare Logo Artwork and Style Guide

Once there is approval from the client's side, it's time to deliver the logo and style guide. The logo source files should be included in the delivery package, as well as a style guide that explains how to utilize the logo. However, be sure to incorporate fundamental logo variations such as full color, black, white, and monochromatic in general. You should also save logo files for various print and digital media. Other brand identification aspects that should be specified in your style guide include color palette, font system, photography style, possibly graphics, animations, and other aspects. 

These steps would help you in fulfilling your client’s expectations and catering to them in the best possible manner. So what did we learn? Logos are a long process. Logos do not happen by accident - they are the result of a lot of brainstorming, exploration, and revision. Custom logo design is a way to deliver the brand’s value and personality to the business.
